Private family-focused social network 23snaps becomes the first social network to allow users to create and share multimedia stories in their news feed
Today 23snaps, the private social network for families, announce the launch of Stories. Stories are a brand new type of content for social networks that allow users to quickly and easily combine photos and text into beautiful multimedia vignettes and post them to their news feed alongside traditional photo or status updates.
23snaps offers parents a private place to save photos, videos, and updates of their children, but Stories mark a departure from content types typical to other social networks, which do not offer users the ability to create a clear narrative from a series of related updates. Stories were inspired by the fact that it takes more than one photo or comment to tell the best family stories.
Meaghan Fitzgerald, Chief Marketing Officer of 23snaps says, “Over 20% of posts added to 23snaps’ contain multiple photos and 40% include detailed descriptions so we could see that families using 23snaps were interested in creating multimedia content.
“Stories takes that one step further by allowing parents, who are great natural storytellers, to use an unlimited combination of photos and text to share a single narrative from beginning to end, tell stories about their children’s lives and share them privately with loved ones.”
A 2012 Forbes study found that nearly 40% of mothers blogged in some form further indicating the desire of parents to escape the constraints placed by existing social network content formats.
Stories will be available on 23snaps’ free iPhone, iPad and Android apps, as well as on the 23snaps website. 23snaps launched in June, 2012 and recently announced they have signed on over half a million users from 179 countries.
