1 – In the United States, 46 MILLION TURKEYS are eaten each THANKSGIVING, while only 22 MILLION are eaten on Christmas Day and 19 MILLION at Easter.

2 – The average WEIGHT of a turkey purchased at Thanksgiving is 15 POUNDS.

3 – The HEAVIEST turkey ever raised was 86 POUNDS, about the size of a large DOG.

4 – The MALE turkey is called a TOM. The FEMALE turkey is called a HEN. Toms have beards and black, hair-like feathers on their breast.
